Colibri Vanille is the culmination of three significant passions held by its founder, Chantale Caron. An advocate for human rights from an early age, the company now provides her with a sense of contributing to a better world through fair, sustainable, and environmentally responsible trade practices. The other two passions that the company allows her to unite are, of course, a fondness for gourmet flavors and a love for travel.
The name of her company was chosen to represent the types of vanilla that are her specialty: "Colibri" vanillas. These are the vanillas that hail from their original terroir: nearly all Latin American countries, from Mexico to Brazil, where they are exclusively pollinated by the region's native hummingbirds, known as "Colibri" in Spanish and French. Nowhere else in the world has vanilla found a natural pollinator, and in all other vanilla-producing countries, each flower must be painstakingly hand-pollinated one by one.
Another reason for the company's name is the beautiful legend of the hummingbird, which you can read about here by following this link. Colibri Vanille has embraced this legend as its motto, its inspirational anthem.
